The Hotel was built in 1595 by a wool Merchant and has been subsequently added to over the years. The many wooden beams in the second and first floor rooms are believed to have come from 16th Century war ships, some say the Spanish Armada! There are two separate staircases leading up to the first and second floors, one of which is listed and can prove a steep climb. We do not have a lift but offer luggage assistance whenever it is required. The Hotel is steeped in history and the quirky layout and individual room sizes and character reflect the rich history of the property.
